Three leaders named to Hartzler’s Farmers and Ranchers for Vicky Coalition

HARRISONVILLE — The Vicky Hartzler for Congress campaign has named three 4th District residents to serve as leaders of the Hartzler campaign’s Farmers and Ranchers Coalition.

As leaders of the coalition they advise Vicky on federal, state, and local agriculture issues and work with other community agricultural leaders, during the campaign, to share Vicky’s strong support of agriculture with the public.

Brent Heid of Harrisonville owns and operates a multi-generational farm in Cass County. Lone Tree Farms consists of 2000 acres of crop ground, producing corn, soybeans, wheat, grass seed and hay. The farm also has a sow unit producing weaned pigs and a few cows.

Charles Bassett of Pulaski County has run a calf-cow farming operation for nearly 50 years and has been a member of the Missouri Farm Bureau for more than 25 years. He served six years as a member of the Missouri Beef Industry Council Board, two years as its chairman. He was a representative to the U.S. Meat Export Federation for two years. He currently serves on the U.S. Beef Board.

Dwayne Schad of Versailles is a board member of the District 4 Farm Bureau. He and his wife, Amy, operate a 500-acre farm raising corn, wheat beans, Milo, wheat and hay and have a 100-head cow-calf operation. He retails small hay bales mostly to horse farmers. He is currently the vice president and commodity chairman for the Morgan County Farm Bureau.

Vicky and Lowell Hartzler live near Harrisonville in Cass County, where they operate a diversified crop and livestock family farming operation. They own Hartzler Equipment Company, a family business with three stores in the 4th District. A former classroom teacher, Hartzler served in the Missouri House of Representatives from 1995-2001, winning with an average 66 percent of the vote in her three election victories. In 2004, she was spokesperson for Missouri’s successful constitutional amendment to protect traditional marriage.
